Proudly Part Of The Community Of Sydney Catholic Schools

Why choose our school?

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Randwick is a welcoming community of highly skilled teachers dedicated to providing a comprehensive education for every child.  We care deeply about the wellbeing of each student and cater to their needs and interests through outreach and broad co-curricular opportunities.

We set high standards for students and they respond by living out our values – placing them on a pathway to strong secondary school options. In concert with parents and parish, we equip our children with the skills, confidence and leadership they need for a successful future.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School (OLSH).
Our community is home to 490 students, and our continued growth from a two‑stream school to an emerging three‑stream model from Kindergarten to Year 4 reflects the trust families place in us and the vibrant learning culture we are building together.

At OLSH, we imagine a future where every child is empowered to discover their gifts, deepen their curiosity and shape their own learning journey. As a Newman Selective Gifted Education Program school, we honour the uniqueness of each learner and place their growth at the centre of our mission. Our commitment to lifelong learning is lived out through contemporary, evidence‑based teaching practices and a culture that embraces innovation, reflection and continuous improvement. In partnership with our families, teachers and staff, we strive to create learning experiences that inspire, challenge and nurture every student.

Our strong connection with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Randwick and our parish priests enriches the spiritual heart of our school. Through meaningful liturgical celebrations and shared moments of faith, we cultivate a community grounded in compassion, belonging and hope.

OLSH is an innovative, future‑ready learning community that empowers students to grow with confidence. As a ‘Collaborating Community’, we are proud of our partnerships with local businesses, organisations and neighbouring schools, including Platinum Pre‑school, Brigidine College and Marcellin College. These relationships strengthen our students’ transitions into Kindergarten and into our Catholic secondary colleges, and they broaden the opportunities available to our learners as they grow.

As I begin my leadership at OLSH, I am energised by the possibilities ahead. Together, we will continue to shape a school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish — academically, spiritually and personally.

OLSH Randwick Our HistoryHistory
The school was established in 1881 by two parishioners of the Sacred Heart Parish and later by the Poor Clare Sisters and Loreto Sisters in 1882. Our strongest history and traditions date back to the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Sisters who ran the school in 1898 and the Brigidine Sisters from 1902 – 1989. Major building construction and refurbishments throughout the years have created the vibrant, modern learning environment of our school today.

Charism
The OLSH and Brigidine charisms are celebrated and have a strong influence on our school identity. Our school motto, ‘Strength in matter and gentleness in manner’ is inspired by Mary and the spirituality of the heart of Jesus.
